About Majadahonda

Believed to have been settled in the 13th Century by Segovian shepherds, Majadahonda sits about 16km northwest of Madrid along the motorway A6 Madrid-A-Coruna. It is a "bedroom" community of Madrid where the "old" city has become "new" again because of its proximity to Madrid. Here you will find the homes of many VIPs, famous individuals and Government Ministers. Now coworking venues are springing up in the town to cater to the local creatives and wandering gypsies who love to meander around Spain.

Close to the city at Las Rozas is the most powerful broadcasting station in Spain, which transmits the programs of RNE-1 (Radio Nacional de España). The antenna is on a 264 meters tall mast that was built in 1962 and was at the time the tallest structure in the Madrid area. There is also a second mast, 130 metres tall used for broadcasting RNE-5 and COPE Madrid. So you won't have any dramas about getting radio reception.

Apart from antennas in the sky, it is believed that this city was built on the foundations of a Roman-Visigoth settlement (1st Century AD) before being abandoned and then recolonized. The Spanish Civil War (1936) almost completely destroyed the city, but by 1960 its population gradually grew and in the last 20 years it has boomed. The attraction is its open natural beauty and the local authorities today ensure that the town retains its open spaces. No one wants to move out of this town with house prices more expensive than those in Madrid.

Coworking in Majadahonda gives the innovative locals one more reason not to have to venture outside their beloved city, as they have the space to get their work done, a tight-knit community to mingle with exchanging skills and experiences, plus plenty of tapas bars for when the hunger pangs strike.
