About Islamabad

While it’s only the 9th largest city in the country, Islamabad is the capital of Pakistan. Islamabad leads the country in many respects. Its economy is growing quickly and local professionals and expatriates are being turned on to coworking. Islamabad is also one of the most developed cities in Pakistan scoring very high on the Human Development Index. The locals are well educated by Pakistani standards boasting the highest literacy rates in all of Pakistan too.

From a lifestyle perspective, Islamabad has a humid subtropical climate. The city is known for having abundant green areas. If you’re a nature person, you’ll appreciate the countless parks and forests. In addition, many museums and art galleries are available for viewing. Opportunities to get active are abundant with numerous options hike, rock climb, and golf. Islamabad is famous for the Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque in South Asia, and the fourth largest in the world.

Given this fact, it should come as no surprise that the majority of the city’s million or so people identify as Muslim. Locals are generally friendly and most speak English well. Due to an influx of Chinese, locals are also becoming increasingly comfortable with and accommodating of foreigners.

Islamabad is relatively safe too. Living in Islamabad, you’re unlikely to find trouble unless you go looking for it late at night. Perhaps this is because the city has become increasingly wealthy over the past decade. Many new hotels, nightlife options, and international food chains have recently opened as a recognition of this increased wealth. With business opportunities abound in this emerging market, Islamabad is a great place to head to a coworking space and build something great.
