About Tivat

The draw card for Tivat, sitting in beautiful Boka Bay, is the luxurious Porto Montenegro where the beautiful people come to play on their luxury boats and the shores are lined with sea facing grand villas.  There is no public transport but the few taxis in town will not break the bank, if you don't wish to walk somewhere.  For the digital nomad it may be a bit of a nightmare, as Montenegro has the slowest Internet in the whole of Europe.  Montenegro is the smallest Slavic State and was officially declared an ecological state in 1992, and is the only one of its kind in the world. From being a seaside resort village for the nobility and rulers in the Middle Ages, Tivat is now host to European billionaires and international royalty.  A Mediterranean hot spot, this is where you will find strutting Armani robed beautiful people reclining on gleaming mammoth white boats with or without a helicopter or two perched on the top.

From funky cafes, elegant international restaurants and swish bars, Tivat is the center for tourism.  Surrounded by coves and awash in glorious sun most days, the deep-water harbor's historical past can be seen in the stonework along the water's edge. In the old city there are plenty of sacred monuments to peek your interest walking around, whilst the stunning beach at Plavi Horizonti and Sv Nikola Island are well worth getting to for a dip in the ocean.  You can even rent a kayak to go solo exploring, maybe hike the Vrmac Ridge from the Trojica Fortress to Gornja Lastva.

And of course, the village markets under Magnolia Square are a must to meander around to experience the true friendly vibe of this city.  Shop until you can't carry any more bags in the designer boutiques at the marina, wander along the promenade, sit and slowly sip an espresso in one of the many cafes along the waterfront, or stroll through the botanical garden of pine, cedar and fir trees on what was once a Kotor Nobleman's estate in 1892.  For a cultural hit make sure you are in town for the Bocarska Olympiad and Ljetnje Festivals.
