About Naucalpan

With a name meaning the "place of the four neighborhoods" or "four houses", Naucalpan is a city northwest of Mexico City in the Valley of Mexico, which has been inhabited by humans for over 20,000 years. Awash in myths and legends, it was the Aztecs who gave the city its name during the period of their reign in the 15th Century.

One of the most industrialized cities in Mexico, it is best known as the site of the Ciudad Satelite that was a development from the 1960s. Naucalpan was officially declared a city in 1957 and has a number of institutions of higher education, mostly related to science and technology. Coworking venues are springing up in Naucalpan to cater to its exuberant youth in a country with one of the fastest growing tech hubs in Latin America.

Mexico was one of the first countries in Latin America to regulate the fintech sector putting it on a par with the international community. Startup ecosystems are thriving and its transition to an innovation economy may just turn out to be one of the world's biggest economies in the next decade if the government maintains its support for entrepreneurship by continuing to develop new initiatives to boost its growth. Over half of its population is under 27 and it has a university system producing more than 130,000 engineers each year.
Naucalpan, as with other Mexican cities values its traditions and many of its innovative souls are forging relationships with local and indigenous groups, such as "Someone Somewhere", that is a social enterprise helping to bring embroidered clothing and accessories to buyers around the world. Coworking venues are creating the space in which the locals can collaborate, connect and get stuff done with many ecosystems turning out success stories.
