About Lilongwe

The capital city of Malawi perched on the Lilongwe River; Lilongwe is a sprawling and chaotic city. Not your normal looking city, as it is basically a few building hubs linked by roads through the bush with a wildlife sanctuary in the heart of its domain. You don't have to worry as there are plenty of restaurants and a place to have a drink when your thirst can't be denied, plus coworking venues not just for the locals but for the wandering souls with laptops in their backpacks who just happen to need to do some work.

Lilongwe's charm will grow on you if you hang around for long enough. Located in the central region of Malawi, it is near the borders of Zambia and Mozambique. Once upon a time it was a small fishing village, but during British Colonial Rule it became the administrative heart due to its strategic location. Today there is the belief that there is enough entrepreneurial potential in the country to turn Malawi into a tech hub. Launched in 2013 mHub got on board with an incubator for tech startups with a focus on building young tech entrepreneurs through teaching skills, development and mentorship.

Coworking venues in Malawi are giving its innovative and creative youth the opportunity and the focus to see their dreams become reality, despite the fact that the need is still there for financial, business and tech support to get onto the global stage.
