About Curitiba

One of the host cities of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Curitiba is known as the best "Brazilian Big City" to live in according to the US Reader's Digest Magazine. Maybe this is because there is one street named "Rua 24 Horas" that is literally open 24 hours a day. For the shopaholics and those that like to food munch on the hour, this 24-hour opening time is applicable to about 30 shops that line the street and numerous restaurants to satisfy the hunger pangs at any time.

More like a European city, the Old Town Curitiba is lined with cobblestoned streets and overflowing with boutiques for the fashion die-hard. Rua XV de Novembro, a pedestrian only thoroughfare is crammed with not only throngs of people, but local street vendors selling everything and anything. It is where you can stop and grab a pastel de carne for munching while you walk. If you are into Italian food with a Brazilian twist, head to the neighborhood of Santa Felicidade. Despite the national drink of Brazil being caipirinhas, the locals love their beer and the must try one is named "Brahma".

Curitiba is a riot of art not just in the museums, but on the streets as well, with a thriving theater and music scene. There are plenty of tourist sights to gawk at such as the Jardim Botânico – Botanical Garden and the gorgeous Tanguá Park.
