About Cd Juarez

No longer considered the most violent (aka murder capital) city in the world, Juárez has been outdone by San Pedro Sula in Honduras. Commonly referred to as Juárez, this Mexican city sits in the state of Chihuahua lying on the Rio Grande and south of El Paso in Texas. It is the 2nd largest bi-national metropolitan area on the Mexico-United States border with a population of over 2.7 million people. Juárez is a major hub for entry and transportation into the United States and has a growing industrial center of assembly plants and home to Bosch, Electrolux, Boeing and Lexmark to name a few. Here you will find a mixture of urban landscapes from affluent to marginal working-class with a huge amount of foreign investment by way of banking, retail and fast-food businesses.

Put its bloody murderous mayhem reputation aside and surprisingly there are a few adventures you can have. Go zip lining or put yourself through the paces of a high ropes course at Trepachanga Eco-Adventure Park to get the adrenalin pumping (keep some in reserve as you may need it later). You can hang out in a jeep or go sand boarding at the sand dunes of Samalayuca with some local Mexicans or newfound friends. When thirst overtakes your senses, head to the Sotolera Distillery that is home to Cinco Tragos sotol (a complex alcohol like wine or whiskey distilled from plants), the local drink that only the locals know about.

Whatever you do, make sure you grab a burrito from the best place in town, Burrito Crisostomo.
