About Aryanah

Aryanah is a slim wedge of a coastal city in the northeast of Tunisia with its origins dating back to the Zirid dynasty. The city became the refuge for Sephardi Jews and Muslim Andalusians in the 13th Century and has been the scene of many marauding rampages over its long history. Bordering both the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea, Tunisia conjures up images of thermal baths, bustling souks, the calling to prayer from massive mosques and tagines of mutton and spices. Coworking venues opening up are giving the creative locals of Aryanah the space to mingle with likeminded people, to collaborate and a place to get their work done.

Tunisia is the first country where startups have successfully lobbied policymakers to change the laws that affect them. Tunisia's Startup Act is taking the country's thriving entrepreneurship ecosystem forward in leaps and bounds. Local entrepreneurs changed laws that stifled competitiveness, such as currency controls, customs fees, lack of financial support and the unclear legal framework under which they struggled.

Coworking in Aryanah is where these intrepid local souls hang out in collaborative bliss with a newfound sense of support by its government. It may not be a tech hub as yet, but with the government getting behind its emerging startup scene, things are looking positive for its intrepid entrepreneurs.
