About Belfast

Belfast is slowly embracing the coworking ethos and spaces are springing up around its' streets. The birthplace of the RMS Titanic, where you will find the super narrow Glass Jar Bar and where Led Zeppelin’s "Stairway To Heaven" was first played live in the Ulster Hall, it is northern Ireland's capital city. Occupied since the Bronze Age, its Giant's Ring - a prehistoric henge site - was used for horse racing in the 18th Century. Belfast is the world's largest linen-producing area earning the nickname of "Linenopolis".

The local professional and small businesses that are into coworking have plenty to keep them occupied outside of tapping on laptops. Belfast is surrounded by mountains and has about 3,000 acres of forested parks to explore for the adventurous soul. There are a number of cultural quarters to meander around from the Cathedral Quarter and the Gaeltacht Quarter to the Queen's Quarter where you will find the Ulster Museum plus Botanic Gardens, whilst the Golden Mile Quarter has the best bars and restaurants to frequent. The Titanic Quarter, adjacent to the Belfast Harbor is home to the Titanic Museum, a college campus and one of Europe's largest film studios.

Belfast today is home to a fledgling generation of tech innovators - think software developers to aerospace engineers - who generally hang out at the Northern Ireland Science Park or at one of the coworking spaces dotted around the town. There is plenty of coding groups, hackerspaces and organized meet-ups to get involved with, as well as a viable angel investor network. The city's young people are hanging around instead of moving away to take advantage of its lively social scene and low living costs.

Coworking spaces are just one of the new additions to Belfast as new venues keep on popping up along its glittering waterfront lined with art, music-filled pubs and an expanding foodie scene.
