About Brighton
Sitting about an hour south of London by train, Brighton is known for its pier, the Royal Pavilion and its pebbly broad beach. The most popular seaside destination for foreign tourists to visit in the UK, it is quite typically an "English" seaside town.Â
The central waterfront section that opened in 1899 is awash in carnival fun of rides and quick snack food kiosks. Overflowing with Regency era buildings and amusement arcades, this is one place to play the eternal kid in fantasy land. Apart from "all the fun of the fair" so to speak, Brighton does have a dynamic arts scene, a vibrant nightlife of the adult variety and plenty of shopping to keep the shopaholics happy.
If you are into a bit of water fun indulge in some swimming, sailing or even power-boat riding on the beachfront. Maybe you want to stay on dry land, if so then go for a walk or a cycle around the stunning countryside, that won't tire you out too much. When you are looking for a hit of cultural bliss take in the museums at Bright and there is one at Hove as well, which is worth investigating.Â
The city is so compact that it is a walker's heaven.  There are over 98 parks and gardens to explore so you won't get bored meandering around them. Maybe a game of croquet is up your alley, then head to the historic Kipling Gardens where you can play until your heart's content.
