About Bhopal

A city in the heart of India sitting in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal is one of the "greenest" towns in India. Known as the "City of Lakes", it is the 17th largest city in the country. It has a sweaty and sticky humid subtropical climate with hot summers, a humid monsoon season and cool plus dry winters. According to history it was settled in the 11th Century and was the scene of a huge disaster in 1984 when the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide manufacturing plant leaked deadly gases, making it one of the worst industrial disasters in the world's history. The city is divided into 2 parts: the old Bhopal in the north and the new Bhopal in the south where you will find a plethora of shopping malls. It is home to one of Asia's largest mosques and 2 lakes, the Upper and the Lower Lakes. The Upper Lake is where you can still find lions, leopards and tigers hiding out in the Van Vihar National Park. From creatures to creativity, Bhopal is now seeing coworking venues opening on its streets.

Bhopal is home to the largest number of institutes of national importance in India such as MANIT, NLIU and others. It also has a plethora of educational and research institutions such as AMPRI and BHEL pumping out tech savvy youth. India has a robust ecosystem happening with a projected increase in startup companies over the next few years. It is quite a unique market in that it is huge, fragmented and not as efficient as it could be. Leaning more towards global copycat companies, it is hoped that eventually this will change to the locals solving their own country's problems with unique technologies.

Coworking venues are creating the perfect platform for collaboration between India's intrepid souls where they can hang out, learn from each other and get creative.
