About Maceio
The capital city of the state of Alagoas, Maceió sits on the east coast of Brazil. Photographers will happily snap pics all day, as its historic center is where you will find colonial houses painted in an artist's pallet of pastel hues. It is the perfect city to linger in if you are into a bit of sun worshipping or water sports, as it has white sand beaches, an off-shore reef hiding Nemo lookalikes and a palm fringed promenade to saunter in the evenings when you walk out the doors of your coworking space.
Maceió is home to the Federal University of Alagoas and its Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport connects the city to a wealth of other Brazilian cities, as well as offering some international flights. Brazil is Latin America's largest entrepreneurial ecosystem with startups focusing on frontiers, other than their own home ground. The creative locals are competing on a global scale and expanding their companies quickly by exporting their business models to other regional markets around the world, despite their own home ground having a growing middle class with a healthy appetite for social and media consumption.
Brazilians are becoming known for bootstrapping early-stage companies, hence the need for more and more coworking spaces to dot city streets. What was once an old sugar mill and plantation complex in the 19th Century is now a city for tech hustlers and whisperers who have a free entrepreneurial spirit.
