Looking for the best coworking and shared office spaces in San Diego? Look no further! Sam and I (co-founders of Coworker) went exploring in San Diego last week to check out all the top coworking spaces in the city. Mostly undercover of course… makes it more exciting that way 😉
Firstly a bit of an overview. The coworking scene in San Diego is growing fast! Most of the coworking spaces we visited were at full capacity, and at least one is planning to move to a bigger office in a couple of months as they’d outgrown their current space. With near perfect weather all year round, proximity to the beach, healthy juice bars everywhere (as a British person this was a novelty to me), and a cool downtown vibe, San Diego is a pretty awesome spot to cowork.
So without much further ado, let’s hook you up with what you came here for – a roundup of the top coworking and shared office spaces in San Diego:
1. DeskHub
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. With Little Italy at its doorstep, DeskHub is just a short stroll from all kinds of delicious foodie spots. Oh and beer too. There’s an awesome chilled out microbrewery called Ballast Point just a few doors down… perfect for a mid-afternoon break. DeskHub has the friendliest staff ever (special shout out to Erica!), they were so welcoming and fun. The space itself is bright and airy, and kind of like a maze. I hadn’t realized how big it was until we kept walking through. Seems like a cool collection of people coworking from here, from individual entrepreneurs to full-on company teams. Great vibes, great energy. Love this place.
2. Co-Merge
I’ll admit it – I’m a sucker for a cool roof terrace. And Co-Merge has exactly that. They even had a taco workshop on it not too long ago (yes, a taco workshop!!). Co-Merge has lots of cool random things like that… for example a community bike. Any of its members can borrow the bike for free, perfect if you want to nip out for lunch. The art up on the walls along the main hallway is curated by a local Art Gallery (Thumbprint Gallery) and changed quarterly. They mentioned they’d be moving to a bigger space in the middle of 2016 though (they’ve outgrown this spot and are always at full capacity) so the location may change soon.
3. PreFab Space
Welcome to creative mecca! If you’re in the fashion industry, PreFAB is the coworking space for you.
Here’s a quote by one of its members that captures PreFAB’s essence perfectly:
“PreFAB is a collaborative working space for entrepreneurs, artists and other creative souls based in downtown San Diego. It is an incredible environment that allows for fashion shows, photo-shoots, meetings, meet-ups, trunk shows, private showcases and more.” – Diane Serra, member PreFAB
4. 3rdSpace, Club for the Creative

APA San Diego Untitled 2015 Exhibition and auction, November 7, at 3rdSpace.
Calling all art-lovers and dog owners! 3rdSpace is an artsy coworking space that is both paint friendly and pet friendly. Whether you’re an artist yourself or you just love being around that kind of creative energy for inspiration, 3rdSpace is a space where you can let your creativity run wild. And if you’ve been looking for a coworking space that lets you bring your dog to work, BOOM you’ve found it!
5. Hera Hub
GIRL POWER! It’s pretty cool to see a coworking space with such a positive female energy. Hera Hub is specifically for women entrepreneurs, and is a wonderfully supportive community. More than just a shared office space, Hera Hub is a place to make lifelong friendships while working on your business.
Are there any other coworking spaces in San Diego that should be on this list? Give them a shout out in the comments below and we’ll update the post!
