About St. Simons Island

An island off the coast of Georgia in the United States, St. Simons is known for its salt marches and sandy shores such as East Beach. It's located in Glynn County and known locally as "The Island" forming a part of the Brunswick, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area. A tiny town of only 12,743 souls you are likely to run into most people around the town at some point, if not a spoonbill or a gannet will chat to you. Both a residential enclave and a seaside resort,St. Simons is the largest of Georgia's famous "Golden Isles" where tourist hordes invade for its' warm climate, outdoor activities, historical sites, beaches, shops and restaurants. Coworking has appeared in its' streets to cater not just to its' innovative locals who don't wish to leave their home ground, but also for the tourists who may just have to do a bit of work whilst they are on holidays.

St. Simons was once home to tribes of the Creek Nation and it has been fought over by the Spaniards, the English and the French. The English made it into a land of rice and cotton plantations worked by African slaves, which in turn created the eclectic and unique "Gullah" culture that is still evident today. There is a museum to meander around so that you can glean an insight into the history of the island and St. Simons Pier is where you can throw a fishing line into the water or merely gawk at migrating whales. A large part of land in the northeast is now a nature preserve where you can peek at historical ruins or hike trails in the wilderness.

This stunning destination is no tech hub, but one of the most intriguing and fascinating places to visit. No wonder its' locals don't wish to leave its' shores, unless it is going for a swim in the ocean. Coworking venues have now given many the independence to work the way they want to, without having to get lost in the big smoke.
