About Leamington Spa

A spa town where you can get into a bit of self-indulgence of the pampering kind, Leamington Spa sits in the heart of England on the meandering Leam River in Warwickshire with a population of about 55,733. Once known as Leamington Priors, it became a spa town in the 18th Century when it was believed that the town's water had medicinal qualities. Coworking venues have appeared on the city streets to cater to its locals who don't need to spend all day lingering in a bathhouse to get their brainwaves happening.

Associated with the founding of "lawn tennis", as this was where the first tennis club in the world began in 1872, it's also known for its Regency architecture, wide boulevards, its 19th Century bathhouse and the Jephson Gardens with its beautiful flowerbeds and glass house. The town has been featured in modern media such as the BBC comedy series of the 1990s "Keeping up Appearances", as well as the drama series "Dangerfield" and the comedy detective series "Mayo".

The city plus its surrounding area has been nicknamed "Silicon Spa", as its a global hub for the video game industry with a high proportion of digital media companies focused on games development, digital design and publishing such as Caperfly, Widgit Software and Third Kind Games to name a few. The startup scene in the United Kingdom is said to be one of the fastest growing in the whole of Europe according to figures over the last 5 years when there has been 392,627 new tech startups launched in the country. The UK has an attractive environment for tech businesses in that it offers great foundations and ecosystems for innovative minds to get their ideas off the ground.

Coworking is but one more step in supporting intrepid brains where it's possible to connect and collaborate with likeminded souls.
