About Mount Clemens
From the beginnings of being a distillery, Mount Clemens received its first post office in 1821 and was incorporated as a city in 1879. A small city in Michigan, it is home to around 16,000 people. It became the "mineral bath" enclave with 11 bathhouses dotted around the town during the years of 1873 to 1974. Movie stars such as Mae West and Clark Gable plus the wealthy likes of William Randolph Hearst and the Vanderbilt family would frequent to soak in a tub.
Slowly Mount Clemens was swallowed up by the expansion of the suburban sprawl of Detroit. Mount Clemens is home to the "American Road Magazine" and the "Mock Turtle Press" publications. Affectionately referred to as "The Clem" by the locals, it has become a bit of a center for nightlife with many late night venues popping up.
