There doesn't seem to be much to keep you in the historic town of Fuquay-Varina sitting in the county of Wake in North Carolina, unless you want to hear the drawn out version of how it came to be named or the fact that there are "healing" waters at the Fuquay Mineral Spring Park. That may be enough to while away a few days. It was initially two towns that became one with a romantic long involved tale that would need more space than here to go into. Originally a tobacco and agriculture area, the town has recently grown quite a bit due to the fact that it is close to the "Research Triangle Park".

Put on your walking shoes to investigate this quaint town and firstly head for a cinnamon roll at Stick Boy Bread, an artisan old-world bakery that will definitely have your nose on alert for that amazing smell of freshly baked goods. There are quite a few eclectic boutiques and specialty shops to poke your head into, if not to damage your credit card. If you are an antique freak, then go to Bostic & Wilson and browse all day if you like. Wednesday afternoons and all day Saturday, you can meander around the Growers Market for some local ingredients or the historic district with its tree-lined streets to get a look at some of the National Historic Register houses. When it is beer time, head to one or do all of the establishments: Aviator Tap House, Draft Line Brewery, Fainting Goat Brewing Company or the Lincoln Brewery. Take in some local live music and guzzle a few hours away.

The must do is obviously going to the Fuquay Mineral Spring Park and partaking of a few swills of the "healing waters".
