About Sevnica

Perch yourself at the hilltop medieval castle "Grad Sevnica" and you will have incredible panoramic views over the whole of the old city of Sevnica. Sitting on the left bank of the Sava River in the heart of the country, Sevnica is one of 3 major settlements in the Lower Sava Valley. The new part of town stretches along the plain amidst the hills up the Sava Valley, whilst the old heart of the city sits beneath its castle that is surrounded by mature trees, immaculate gardens and tall statues. There is also a vineyard famous for its blue Franconian grapes and in the northern area of the town trails lead to the top of Lisca Hill. The history buffs will have heart palpitations, as there is also an archaeological site with ruins of a 5th Century village to explore. Home to numerous churches where you can say a little prayer for your startup to succeed as you meander to your coworking venue, Sevnica is also home to one of the largest lingerie companies in Europe, Lisca so you won't have any dramas replacing your underwear.

Slovenia does have a growing tech startup scene happening with the past few years seeing a few successful Slovenian companies building products and entering the global market place, such as Celtra and Zemata to name a few. These fresh young startups are creating an inspiring role to the tech savvy minds bunkering down in coworking venues around the country causing a startup culture and community to blossom. Slovenia has always had its fair share of high tech companies, but today it's seeing a generation of entrepreneurs managing to conquer global markets with niche high-tech engineering products such as ultra-light planes, exhaust systems and solar cells plus those focusing on software and digital technologies - think social media, mashups and telecommunications. The Slovenia scene is not mature at all, as most startups are in the seed or early stage of development, but it's showing some successes.

The entrepreneurs of Slovenia are actively creating tech communities of which coworking venues are forming a vital part where they can connect, collaborate and get their ideas out into the stratosphere.
