About Kreuzberg

Kreuzberg is in the land of legal prostitution from department store sized brothels to quirky drive through sex boxes and where the government obviously believes in equal opportunity for the disabled, as it will fund the sex life of people with a disability.  The German government also has the right to reject "weird" baby names and so long as you are over 14 you can drink with a "custodial" person, even in public. Everything is closed on Sundays and giving the one "finger" salute in road rage is definitely illegal, resulting in a fine.  This is one seriously wacky country.

Trendy and brash, Kreuzberg is home to Berlin's alternate sub-cultures, as well as a music scene of punk rock, hip hop and rap.  It is the center for the "Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer Life and Arts" in Berlin. There is a huge annual festival, "Carnival of Cultures", where the vibe is eclectic and vibrant, showcasing the different cultures to be found in Kreuzberg.  Rowdy street parades, thumping music, lively street entertainment and local food are all to be had in a colorful atmosphere.

Sitting on the Spree River, Kreuzberg was thrust back into the middle of Berlin's city area when the Berlin Wall fell.  The town is overflowing with pubs, bars and restaurants, reflecting its young population and diverse ethnic heritage.
