About Maple Ridge

You will find urban living touched with rural life in the town of Maple Ridge.  Sitting in the northeastern area of Metro Vancouver, it is between the summits known as "Golden Ears" in the mountains of the Garibaldi Ranges and the Fraser River.  The heart of Maple Ridge's downtown area is called "Haney". This is the town for time-out at a more leisurely pace to restore the spirit, whilst you delve into some local history and sites.  If restoring your soul is not on the agenda, then go skydiving instead of kite flying.  Maple Ridge's stunning scenery has been featured in scenes of Twilight, Jumanji, The A-Team and Happy Gilmore.

You can become the curious historian at the Pitt Meadows Museum and the Maple Ridge Museum or go on the Fraser River Heritage Walk to glean some local knowledge.  There is the Caribbean Festival and the Maple Ridge Jazz & Blues Festival to keep the musos happy and plenty of feather activity of the bird variety for the twitters to keep their binoculars occupied trying to spy nesting ospreys near Pitt Lake or blue herons and bald eagles at Pitt Polder.  If you like to dangle a line in the hope of catching that big one, head to Fraser or Pitt River to try your luck at snaring a big salmon or sturgeon.  If catching a dinner plate size rainbow trout is more to your liking then go to the Golden Ears Provincial Park where if nothing is biting, you can grab a canoe or a kayak. For the equestrian stars, jump on a horse and take to the trails at Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows.

If the above seems too strenuous, just grab your wallet and head to the shops for a bit of casual retail therapy or while away some time in a cafe sipping a latte.
