Coworking Space: CoWork-Lab in Cologne

I regularly visit a friend and his partner in Köln but as they both work from home, having me as yet another person sharing their home office would get a bit too crowded. They need a good working environment just like me so I was happy to discover CoWork-Lab and work from there. With a good desk and office chair, an extra monitor (essential for a developer) and quiet surroundings I was able to work efficiently all day. Apart from lunch, that is, which wasn't hard to find as CoWork-Lab is close to the Hauptbahnhof. Didn't get to try it out this time but they have a real espresso machine as well. :-) I'll certainly be back the next time I need a working space in Köln.

Great coworking space with everything you could possibly need. The internet is excellent and there's a meeting room to take calls which creates for a quiet working environment. Access to a small fridge/microwave in case you want to bring your own lunch, tea, coffee and snacks. They were very accommodating and helpful as I had forgotten my charger and was able to borrow one. The desk was large and there was also the possibility of using a second screen. It was super easy to get to from the station and there were a bunch of places to buy food/groceries within walking distance. All in all, highly recommended.

After checking in to a hostel and finding that its WiFi was terrible I was left scrambling for a quick solution. I looked here on coworker and found that the CoWork-Lab was literally right around the corner. It was the perfect solution and at one of the most competitive prices in the city as well. I was there at 9am the next morning ready to put a days work in. The manager of the place wasn't yet on site, but after I accidentally mistook one of the regular coworkers for a member of staff for the staff they immediately took me under their wing. They got me sat down and made me a coffee from their amazing machine (which was great because this is a proper machine like you would see in Starbucks) and offered to get me set up on WiFi so I could work in the common area while I waited. The manager arrived a few minutes later and after a brief tour of the facilities I was offered the choice between a seat in a side room (if I needed to make a lot of phone calls) or a desk in the main bullpen. I was set up and productive within 15 minutes. I was left alone then and spent a full day getting work done which was perfect for me as I needed to get stuff done. Near the end of the day I got chatting with one of my neighbours and it was interesting to discuss the city from his point of view.
