Coworking in Brisbane About Brisbane

Brisbane was once the backwater city to its southern counterparts, Sydney and Melbourne, but no longer. Located on the Brisbane River, the city now has a vibrant arts scene, throbbing night life, great coffee, international restaurants and 283 days of sunshine a year. Brisbane is quite often the doorstep to either the Gold Coast in the south or the Sunshine Coast in the north, where long stretches of sandy beaches fringe the Coral Sea. You can also use Brisbane as a jumping off point to go to North Stradbroke or Moreton Island.

Certainly not as snobby as the southern cities, it has more of a bright and adventurous spirit, despite having all the grown up amenities of a big city. To get fantastic views of Brisbane it is worth the effort going up Mt. Coot-tha where the panorama is amazing. Back in the city along the riverbank you will find the Queensland Museum and Science center, the Gallery of Modern Art, a man-made swimming lagoon and a swarm of cafes and restaurants to soak up the laid-back vibe of the city or weekend markets to fossick in. You can climb up the Story Bridge and abseil down, or push the peddles on a bicycle around the dedicated bikeways along the riverbank.

The Queen Street Mall that houses over 1000 retail shops was once the venue for stone convict barracks complete with a flogging triangle. The only flogging these days that goes on is of credit cards during retail therapy. The Aussie cake - the lamington - was first made in Brisbane at the Old Government House in 1900. It is now an Aussie tradition that always makes an appearance on Australia Day each year when the pies and the barbecues appear.
